High frequency contiuous? or only to start?

Reading the book it lists A/C HIGH Freuency..on my machine i have a setting for HF to start, HF off, or HF continuous

should i be welding aluminum on HF continuous???

I think my machine has been on HF start for a long time

put it on start for DC welding with Tig

    Depends on the machine.

Transformer machines require HF Continuous for AC welding of aluminum.

Inverters (Dynasty Series) use HF to start the arc only. The machines make the transition from DC+ to DC- so rapidly, they do not need the HF to maintain the arc as it passes thru the 0 state.

Just wondering, do the inverter types like the dynasty have the HF switch for start-continuous-off? or is it just programmed into it

On an inverter welder such as the Dynasty 200 DX there is only HF for start (not continuous) for either AC or DC. For AC welding the square wave changes from positive to negative so fast that the arc doesn't extinguish or become unstable, so you don't need continuous HF for AC welding on an inverter type welder.

Sure woulda been easier if the OP had just stated what machne he had questions about. Other than Lincoln and Miller, I have no idea what features other (even Chinese) machines have.

Yeah, Sundown, the questions are getting more vague by the post
